Location of Role: Stansted

Starting Salary: £24,921.00 (pro-rata for part-time vacancies)

Part/Full Time: Full Time 

Contract Type: Permanent 

Working Pattern: 24/7 shift 

Weekend/Evening Working: Yes 

 

 

Are you a self-motivated and experienced Communications Officer.? Do you want to play a vital role supporting counter terrorism work and proactive policing of one of the UK’s primary airports? Are you passionate about serving and protecting the public? Can you meet the challenges of working in partnership with the 12,000 other employees at the airport?

 

An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for an individual to join the team in the Police control room at Stansted Airport.

 

We are looking for proactive and well-motivated applicants who can evidence control room experience and are able to work well as part of a team of professional multi-skilled staff.

 

Applications are invited from staff who have relevant previous experience within a control room environment. An understanding of control room work, intelligence handling and the use of a wide variety of police control room computer-based systems and applications is preferable. Knowledge of AIRWAVE,  CORTEX, STORM, PNC, Intelligence, ANPR and ATHENA is essential along with the ability to quickly learn the airport specific system(s), demonstrating an aptitude for learning and adopting new, collaborative ways of working is essential.

 

You must show well-honed listening and interpersonal skills in order to deal with Airport emergency calls and a high degree of flexibility and resilience to cope with the pressure and demands of the role, together with the ability to work a shift system covering 365 days per year.

 

Excellent verbal and written communications skills are essential in order to communicate with callers, deal professionally with all enquires whilst managing caller expectations. The ability to assess and analyse information, identify risk and vulnerability and consider options for actions using own initiative and professional judgement is a requirement of the role. The ability to problem solve, think logically and make sound decisions applying agreed policies parameters and procedures is essential.

 

The time critical nature of this work will require a person able to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines, be reliable and have an organised and methodical approach with attention to accuracy and detail.

 

You will need to demonstrate evidence in the following areas:

  • Evidence of excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Your ability to assess and analyse information
  • Prioritise workloads to meet deadlines
  • Your ability to problem solve making sound decisions within the parameters of procedures.

Essex Police offer incremental increases within this salary band, therefore the salary for this position will rise to a maximum of £27,351.00.
