An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team at Hospital of God to support the needs of people who live independently within our Almshouse properties. As an Almshouse Support Worker you will have a varied role, directly supporting individuals across the 112 Almshouse properties we own.
Location: Working across all Almshouse properties (including The Brother House, Greatham; Trinity Gardens, Stockton; Fox Almshouse, Norton and any other Almshouse properties as required)
Hours: 30 hours per week (9am to 3pm Monday to Friday)
Job Purpose: Supporting the needs of older people living independently with varied backgrounds, life history and support needs
Salary: £11.36 per hour
Contract Period: Permanent
Key Requirements: Valid current clean UK driving license and business insurance. Use of own vehicle to travel between sites
Job Description Summary:
- To provide for the day-to-day support of all Hospital of God Almshouses in all locations both presently operated by the charity and new locations in the future.
- To work with the Almshouse Lead in setting in place values, policies and procedures that promotes the independence and well-being of residents.
- To ensure the assessment of the support needs of residents in all locations and review these as required.
- To provide the support service for residents within the requirements of any Supporting People contracts that may be in place.
- To ensure an attractive clean and safe environment at all Almshouse locations.
- To manage the Almshouse allocation process and make recommendations to the Head of Care for Almshouse allocations.
- To encourage residents to retain their independence by sign posting them to appropriate support services.
- To ensure there is a weekly programme of interesting and stimulating activities at all locations for those residents wishing to take part. To encourage residents to be self-managing in activities.
- In consultation with residents to devise appropriate support plans on the electronic care planning system that promotes independence and wellbeing.
- To carry out annual reviews of these plans or more frequently should the needs of resident’s change.
- To carry out compliance checks on site such as legionella compliance, fire tests and other health and safety compliance checks at the request of the Almshouse Lead.
- To identify vacancies and immediately plan for the reallocation of properties with the Almshouse Lead.
Person Specification
- Two years’ experience of working with older people.
- Experience of day-to-day duties required to meet the delivery of our service.
- Experience of building positive working relationships with residents and their families, staff and other health and social care professionals.
- Full clean driving license and access to a car (business insurance essential)
- Team Worker with flexible attitude to duties
