Job description

As Alumni Engagement Assistant no two days were the same.  I really enjoyed expanding my communication skills, finding the best way to help alumni around the world with a broad range of topics.  I learnt a lot about the work of the Campaign Office and the broader University, when signposting alumni to the right information.  Helping to deliver in person and digital engagement activity was a highlight too and I often learnt a lot myself from the speakers!" As a member of the Alumni Engagement Team, you will provide high quality customer service to our global alumni community and administrative support to deliver our exciting programme of in person and digital engagement activity.  This will help our alumni to thrive personally and professionally and enable us to build a pool of engaged alumni who may now or in the future, advocate, volunteer time or donate money to support the University. You will communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.  Responding to alumni enquiries by e-mail and telephone will form a large part of your role, as will providing assistance to the team in the lead up to and during activity, such as building online forms, producing name badges and guest lists and assisting at in person events.  You will demonstrate attention to detail and the ability to prioritise your workload effectively.  You should have experience of accurately recording data in large online databases and knowledge or experience of handling sensitive data. You will have a vocational qualification (NVQ2-3, City & Guild) or equivalent, plus some experience in a relevant role. OR Considerable work experience in a relevant role/relevant life experience reinforced by work experience. You must be willing and able to occasionally work outside normal hours on evenings and weekends to help deliver events and activities throughout the UK. At the University of Nottingham, we are committed to providing generous employment packages whilst supporting the well-being of our staff to help them reach their full potential. As a University employee, you will have an excellent choice of benefits and rewards, including access to fitness and health facilities, staff discounts and travel schemes, along with a generous holiday allowance and a highly attractive pension scheme. This is a Fixed term opportunity for 24 months, involving a blend of on-campus and home working. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours) ; however applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 26 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part time and the number of preferred hours. Job share arrangements may be considered. We have a diverse global alumni and supporter community, from a mix of cultures and backgrounds and we aspire to reflect this within the CARO team. We are seeking applications from candidates whose background, experience and identity broadens and enhances the diversity of our existing team. We would especially welcome applications from those who identify as members of often underrepresented communities. This position does not fulfil the UK Visas & Immigration sponsorship criteria for Skilled Worker, therefore we can only accept applications from candidates who already have the right to work in UK. Informal enquiries may be addressed to Georgina Docherty, Head of Alumni Engagement, at georgina.docherty@nottingham.ac.uk. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
