Job description

We are seeking a visionary leader to join our Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre (AMIC) executive team at Queen’s University Belfast as our Chief Technology Officer (CTO). This role has a blended focus on both technology strategy and business development.

As a member of the C-suite, you will play a crucial role in shaping and delivering our technology roadmap, driving innovation, and fostering a culture of technological excellence. You will also be responsible for building and managing strategic partnerships, identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, and translating technology into tangible business value. You will establish a global reputation for AMIC across the four groups; Digital Factory, Smart Design, Nanotech and Photonics, Polymers and Composites.

You will be part of an ambitious team of innovators and problem-solvers who aim to make an impact on business and society in Northern Ireland and globally.

About the person:

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor's degree, equivalent or higher qualification in Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Significant experience in a senior leadership role within the manufacturing technology industry.
  • Proven track record in developing industry stakeholder relationships and delivering high quality on time and to budget project outcomes.
  • Experience of developing and implementing successful technology strategies.
  • Strong track record in securing R&D funding from local, national and international bodies.
  • Demonstrable track record of development of business networks, strategic relationships with businesses and securing revenue to benefit industry.
  • Proven experience and knowledge of NI manufacturing sector capabilities across large to small businesses.
  • Demonstrable commitment to the mission and values of Queen’s University Belfast, AMIC and the objectives of BRCD.
  • Passionate about innovation and driving business growth through technology.
