Job description

Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) at Citi is responsible for the design and implementation of firm-wide frameworks and practices that are fundamental to Risk Management within Citi. New Activity Risk Management is an integral part of ERM and responsible for the end-to-end review and approval of all new and modified products and services originated by Markets, Services, Banking and other Citi Businesses. New Activity Risk Management provides an efficient forum to review, challenge and identify Risks and Controls relating to new activities in partnership with businesses and control functions.

The position is an Analyst role within New Activity Risk Management focusing on Markets activities. The Analyst will play a critical role on the team, working closely with the New Activity Risk Managers and assisting in managing the review and the approval process. The role involves active engagement in various UK, European and Global projects to continuously improve the New Activity Risk Management process. Central to this role will be the ability to collaborate and work across various business and control function stakeholders.

What you’ll do:

  • Assist the Markets Committee chairs as Committee Secretary by preparing approval meetings and working collaboratively with committee stakeholders. Review materials prepared for submission to the Markets Committee, and ensuring completeness as per the policy and procedure.
  • Prepare and document bi-weekly meetings between the Markets Global Chair and the Markets New Activity Risk Manager Global Products Heads.
  • Support Markets New Activity Risk Managers throughout the review process including ensuring all process stakeholders understand their role, have all required information and system access and that all steps are completed correctly.
  • Assist Markets New Activity Risk Managers in screening business proposals and making appropriate recommendations for review required.
  • Participate in the evaluation of risk issues, and document meeting discussions and ensure that the issues raised during the New Activity Approval Process are duly addressed and resolved.
  • Provide reports and analysis from the global database to meet business, regulatory and audit requirements.
  • Ensure that formal documentation is maintained, including conclusions, conditions, follow-ups, reports and metrics of New Activity Approval Process proceedings and decisions.
  • Organise New Activity Risk Management administration including scheduling kick-off meetings, proposal reviews, and monitoring follow-ups and conditions for completion.
  • Complete documentation requirements for reviewed proposals and work on the Management Information System data management.
  • Assist in global initiatives, including automation and digitization of Risk Management workstreams.

What we’ll need from you:

  • The following are beneficial but not necessary:
  • A basic understanding of different risk types, e.g. market risk, credit risk, operational risk, liquidity risk, franchise risk, legal risk, reputational risk and regulatory risk
  • Experience in the Financial Services industry
  • Product knowledge over a broad set of asset classes and transactions (e.g. Equities, Commodities, Foreign Exchange, Rates, Structured Products, Private Equity, eCommerce, Cash Management, Trade Finance, and Custodial Services)
  • Understanding of Citi’s businesses and products would be beneficial
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task effectively in a high volume and complex environment with changing priorities
  • Excellent communication skills across all stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate across multiple geographies, businesses and functions
  • Ability to build strong internal and external networks
  • Good team player while working independently to bring tasks to completion
  • Strong technology skills including systems management, report production, data management and presentation preparation
  • Self-starter, with an ability to assimilate and analyse large amounts of information
  • Strong tenacity, resilient under pressure in a fast paced and demanding environment
  • Highly engaged with strong attention to detail and outcome oriented
  • High level of integrity to deal with confidential data
  • Degree in business, finance, law or economics a plus.
