About The Role
The post holder will participate fully in the provision of a quality service for Coroner’s post mortem examinations and the storage of deceased prior to release, ensuring that all work is compliant with mortuary standard operating procedures and Human Tissue Authority licencing regulations.
You will be required to assist pathologists in carrying out post mortems including reconstruction to a high standard, all procedures relating to tissue retention and cleaning procedures. You will also be involved in the smooth running of the office and body store.
The post holder will need to liaise with various grades of staff including the mortuary manager, the operations officer, pathologists, clinicians, funeral directors, coroner's officers, police, council appointed staff, laboratory staff, medical staff, and other healthcare professionals both internal and external. Gloucestershire public mortuary does not operate a on call system, however, a flexible approach to working hours is required.
About You
The Mortuary Service based at Gloucestershire Coroner’s Court are looking for an enthusiastic, committed and qualified APT to join them on a fixed 12 month contract.
The successful applicant will support the Anatomical Pathology Technology team with the day to day running of the mortuary service. The team consists of 4 RSPH qualified APTs and one apprentice APT. The successful applicant will actively participate in the provision of an efficient, professional, established mortuary service. The mortuary performs in excess of 700 post mortems per year including Home Office investigations.
