Agenda is offering an exciting opportunity for an Animal Care Technician to join our expanding team in Cambridge. As an Animal Care Technician, you will work with a team of scientists and technicians to ensure the research in our facilities are carried out with care and compassion while making sure statutory regulations, policies and procedures are kept to a high standard.

Basic Requirements:
- Minimum of GCSE’s (or equivalent) including English, Maths and Science (or equivalent experience).
- Previous experience as an animal technician, performing husbandry duties for rodents.
- Experience with IVC’s is essential.
- Competent in Schedule 1 is advantageous.
- Experience with necropsy and tissue sampling is desirable.
- Understanding of Bio-securities and use of PPE.
- Willingness to undertake training in accordance with Home Office requirements.
- A genuine passion for working with animal’s care and welfare.
- Effective communication skills, written and oral.
- Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team.
- Willingness to undertake training in accordance with Home Office requirements.
- Able to work overtime and week.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Routine animal husbandry including handling animals, feeding, watering, general health checking and environmental enrichment.
- Responsible for ensuring that all animal welfare concerns are brought to the attention of the facility NACWO.
- Assist in ensuring that the laboratories are adequately stocked with consumables such as bedding and food.
- Cleaning and sterilisation of all cages and equipment.
- Keep accurate records and capture data in writing or electronically as required.
