We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and self-motivated individual to the role of Animal Care Technician. The role will be responsible for ensuring animal welfare is maintained outside of normal teaching activities during weekends, Bank Holidays and non-core time.

The successful candidate will assist in the running of the animal unit, involve feeding animals, cleaning them out, maintaining feed stocks, performing animal husbandry activities/welfare checks and arrange veterinary care if needed.

The successful candidate will also act as a workplace supervisor, coordinating the activities of a small number of students who volunteer to care for the animals during weekend, Bank Holidays and non-core periods to gain work experience. They would also enhance the assessment and evidence gathering opportunities for those students attending.

The successful candidate must:


  • Hold a minimum Level 3 qualification or equivalent in relevant area
  • Awareness of Health & Safety relevant to training and education in the land based sector
  • Demonstrable experience of working successfully within the Animal Management Industry and in a training context
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
