About the role:
Since 6 April 2020 West Suffolk Council has had responsibility for enforcing parking regulations both on-street and off-street which represented a major change for our Parking Services department.
We are looking for an Appeals and Admin Officer who will be responsible for the second stage of the penalty charge notice process including decisions regarding written challenges and appeals against penalty charges in accordance with current legislation. This will involve reviewing evidence from civil enforcement officers and mitigating circumstances provided by the appellant which may be used as evidence in a Traffic Penalty Tribunal.
Based in the Parkway Multi Storey Car Park office in Bury St Edmunds, the postholder will manage each case through to full debt recovery or closure of notice, liaising with the County Court, the Traffic Enforcement Court and Enforcement Agents when required. They will also be responsible for issuing trade and statutory permits, season tickets, weekly tickets and staff parking permits in addition to dealing with customer enquiries and complaints in person at the customer service desk or by telephone or email.
What you will need:
You will need excellent communication and IT skills with proven experience of working with databases and spreadsheets. The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, be highly organised, with attention to detail and accuracy are all essential for this role.
