The British Library is looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our Discovery & Access team. As a part of the Discovery & Access team you will be responsible for the support and maintenance of the IT systems that allow users to search for and access our digital and physical content. You will manage application configuration, patching and troubleshooting in a predominantly Linux-based environment with a particular emphasis on web technologies as well as some library-specific applications. Applications supported by the team include Nginx Plus, Apache, IIS, Redis, Varnish, Primo, SFX, Shibboleth as well as various bespoke applications developed in-house. You will also work with larger project teams to help deliver improvements and implement new systems and services.
As an Application Specialists in our Discovery & Access team, you will be based either at St Pancras, London or Boston Spa, West Yorkshire but we work in a hybrid environment, averaging one day a week onsite. We let you decide what works best for you, e.g. 3 days onsite one week and the next 2 weeks working from home. We are very much delivery and outcomes focussed.
About you;
- Experience of supporting, configuring and integration of third party/packaged or bespoke applications, particularly in a Linux environment
- Experience of monitoring large scale or multiple applications and services
- Experience of operational acceptance testing and deploying changes to production systems using appropriate controls
- Excellent communicator and demonstrable ability to work as part of a team to agreed customer service levels and SLAs
- Proven problem solving skills using a logical and considered approach
- Proven systems analysis and documentation skills
- Experience of data migration and file management
