Job description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen in the Public Protection Team for one Environmental Health Apprentice. This is a 4 year apprenticeship training programme to become a Environmental Health Practitioner gaining a BSc in Environmental Health (Hons). It is a unique opportunity to earn while you learn and we welcome an enthusiastic, dedicated team members committed to studying towards a degree level. We welcome applications with local community knowledge from within Bristol.
As an Environmental Health Apprentice you will work in partnership with colleagues to improve Communities & Public Health, the council and other organisations to improve Environmental health outcomes, and reduce health inequalities in Bristol. You will support the planning, delivery and evaluation of Environmental health initiatives/actions.
You will learn to apply your professional knowledge and skill on a range of areas, such as environmental protection, food safety, health and safety at work, housing standards, Port Health and public health.
To carry out this role successfully you will need to have good communication skills with strong interpersonal skills as you will be engaging with a wide range of stakeholders. An understanding of health inequalities and a willingness to develop your knowledge in this area is a must.

Applying for an apprenticeship
To apply for an adult apprenticeship you must be aged 16 years or over, at the start of employment. You will need to have studied to A’level with evidence in English and Maths GCSE (grade C, or equivalent) or functional skills level 2.
