Hybrid Working - Competitive Salary + Full Financed Degree in Quantity Surveying
Permanent: Full-time
Are you looking to kick start a career in Property and Construction? Would you like to work with an established, innovative and market leading construction consultancy? Do you want to work on exciting projects which challenge you daily?
If so, our Apprentice Monitoring Surveyor vacancy in our Croydon Head Office could be a fantastic opportunity for you!
Our apprenticeship scheme will give you the opportunity to learn a highly skilled, professional and increasingly sought-after job role in the construction industry whilst studying towards a fully financed Degree in Quantity Surveying. You will do all of this whilst earning a competitive salary.
If you are in your final year of your A-Levels, Level 3 NVQ or similar equivalent qualification, and have ambitions of working in our industry; we would love for you to apply for our Degree Apprenticeship.
During the scheme, you’ll attend University one day per week to learn the skills you need to excel in your field. But it’s not just study. You’ll spend the remainder of your time working in our office or with our clients, putting everything you’ve learnt into action on live projects. Giving you the perfect blend of theoretical knowledge and practical experience to start your career in Surveying.
What is Monitoring Surveying, and will it suit me?
If successful, you will join our rapidly expanding Independent Monitoring Services (IMS) team which work with a variety of funders for major projects. You will assist with carrying out independent project reviews and carefully monitor projects to ensure investments are viable and effectively managed.
The role itself combines elements of the Quantity Surveying and Project Management role. You will work with lenders which include banks and other major funders of construction projects and provide services and advice relating to costs, procurement, contract administration and more.
Since the banking crisis in 2008 lenders have become increasingly careful about where they lend their money. As such the demand for Independent Monitoring Service (IMS) has grown exponentially and Henry Riley are proud to be a market leader in this service area. All of this has resulted in the Fund Monitoring role becoming a highly sought after skillset in the construction industry with fantastic career opportunities.
Due to the similarities between Quantity Surveying and Fund Monitoring, you will study a Quantity Surveying Degree which will educate you on all of the key responsibilities for this role. Once completed, you will enrol onto Henry Riley’s industry leading APC programme where you will be given all the support required to become a Chartered Surveyor with the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
The role would particularly suit candidates with a passion for working in the construction and property industry. We can provide a fantastic career for candidates who have strong numerical skills, are personable, methodical, analytical and have bags of enthusiasm and ambition.
We’re looking for individuals who:
- Are keen to learn.
- Share our values of passion, integrity and excellence.
- Ambitious and keen to learn new skills.
- Are organised and well prepared with excellent timekeeping.
- Have strong written and numeracy skills.
- Enjoy contributing to a team environment and celebrating our success.
- Can follow instructions and work under pressure.
- Have a passion to pursue a career in a construction professional role.
- Have or are expecting 104 UCAS points or more by the end of this summer.
- Have achieved level 4 or above in GCSE Maths and English.
- Hold a valid UK driving license (or expected to hold one prior to starting employment)
