About The Role
This is a great opportunity to join the Vehicles Solutions team at Motability Operations. We are recruiting new apprentices to join our growing team initially at our Loughborough site before moving to our state-of-the-art repair centre in Coalville. You will gain an NVQ qualification in Vehicle Damage Panel repair.
As well as classroom-based off-site block release training you will quickly gain practical skills and work experience, learning while you earn, mentored by our team of senior technicians.

Key Responsibilities are:
- How to accurately assess requirements for damaged vehicles
- Removing and fitting of non-structural components
- Panel repair techniques and processes
- Vehicle body alignment
- Welding techniques and processes
- How to identify additional faults not identified on initial inspection.
- How to prepare surfaces including striping, sanding, and masking areas.
- Buffing and polishing methods.
- To attend all mandatory training as part of your apprenticeship standards
- To complete all practical and theory work in line with the expectations of the apprenticeship
- Be able to understand when issues need to be escalated to your supervisor or mentor.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and complies with our standards and guidelines.
- Obtain authorisation from appropriate supervisors when undertaking work outside of the normal working remit.
- Understand and embed Motability Operations values into all aspects of your work.

3 - If successful at this stage, you will be invited to an assessment centre day with us. This is an opportunity for us to get to know you but also for you to get to know us further. The day will involve an interview, LEGO and VR related tasks and lunch.
About You
- Commit to your apprenticeship for 3 years.
- Have grade 4 or above in Maths and English or Functional Skills Level 2.
- Have high attention to detail and be willing to learn.
- Be positive and enthusiastic.
- A flexible approach to working hours.
This is a Vehicle Accident Damage Panel Apprenticeship programme, delivered by EMTEC Nottingham
Awarding Body: Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI)
Training is delivered in the workplace and on block release at EMTEC Nottingham. This means you will be required to stay in a hotel for 12 separate weeks (Mon – Fri) over the duration of the program, which equals 4 weeks per year. All associated costs for training are met by the employer and there will be no cost to you.
You will also be assigned a dedicated Mentor/ Development Coach who will visit you every 4-6 weeks either in the workplace or remotely via Microsoft Teams, giving 1-2-1 advice and guidance to help you achieve the following IMI qualifications:
- Vehicle Damage Panel Technician Level 3
- Functional Skills Level 2 in English & Maths (if required)
Requirements:
- Be able to complete classroom base, online (e-learning), and on-the-job training where applicable.
- Be willing to travel for training as required (funded by the company)
