Apprentice Youth Development Worker

To work within the Youth Development Team to develop and deliver centre & street-based activities for groups/individuals, school programmes and services that will be delivered in a specified area of the community to meet the personal and social development needs of young people in Liverpool.

It is essential that you have the availability to work some evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities:

-To support the planning, organising, and co-delivery of a range of group and personal development programmes that improve outcomes for young people. This will include Social Enrichment, impact of Crime and ASB, Informal Education, Mental Health, and Personal Development.

-To work at ‘grass roots’ level, on the streets, in parks and centres, on a rota of continuous evenings and weekends providing open & accessible activities to local children & young people.

-Develop relationships and work in partnership with Schools, Social Care Services, Targeted Support Services and Early Help etc.

-To maintain accurate records for monitoring and reporting purposes including verbal and written information on progress, issues, futures plans and to maintain accurate supporting financial records.

-To assist in the delivery of services alongside permanent and sessional staff, volunteers and other individuals directly involved in the delivery of activities.

-To have shared responsibility in risk assessing and reviewing all activities and assume responsibility for resources and equipment used by the organisation.

-To take responsibility as part of the Youth Team to ensure that session information and registers are uploaded on a timely basis onto the monitoring and evaluation databases.

-To undertake training courses as appropriate and required.

-To abide by the Operational Policies and Procedures of Positive Futures North Liverpool.

-Undertake other duties as may be reasonably requested within the responsibilities of the post.

Essential Requirements:

-Essential that you have the availability to work some Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons/evenings for group sessions and detached delivery.

-Commitment to working on the street outside of normal office hours, including some weekends and evenings

-Commitment to work within the principles of the equal opportunities and in an inclusive open and transparent one organisation style

-Work within appropriate child protection guidelines

-A commitment to undertake any necessary training

-A commitment to improving the lives of young people and providing development opportunities.

-Excellent Verbal and written communication and presentation skills

- You must be working toward Level 3 Youth Work Qualification or equivalent .

Full time, 35 hour working week.

Salary: National Apprenticeship Salary Banding: £5.28 - £10.42 per hour (dependant on age)
