This is a unique opportunity and we are looking for a forward-thinking Approved Mental Health Professional Lead who can manage and support  with our continuous improvement journey to improve outcomes for people in Walsall, including informal carers.

As the Approved Mental Health Professional Lead based within our AMHP HUB you will be able to bring your skills and experiences to life by leading a Team of Approved Mental Health Professionals. You will work with a range of internal and external stake holders in order to raise standards and help embed Strengths Based and Recovery Focused Practice in order to delivery sound evidenced based outcomes for a range of clients presenting in crisis and requiring Mental Health Act Assessments.

The Team works closely with a range of statutory and voluntary agencies in order to undertake timely and proportionate Mental Health Act assessments and related activities ie Community Treatment Orders, MOJ reports and Social Circumstances activity

As the Team Manager - AMHP Lead you will be expected to have an excellent  knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Care Act, Mental Capacity Act and related legal and regulatory frameworks in order to support Walsall Council on its continued improvement programme. 

As a motivated and resilient individual, you will be able to work on your own initiative as well as influence and encourage your team and wider partners when managing difficult situations relating to complex needs of client’s people, you will take a whole system change approach and bring innovative solutions around best use of resource.

Walsall Council like other authorities is having to work differently with ever increasing demand, you will bring your skills and motivation to our Adult Social Care Directorate by leading, in the main, Strengths based assessments and our statutory safeguarding responsibilities

You will also have an opportunity to support the delivery of new and evolving ways of working across the local landscape, promoting seamlessness approaches, strong partnership working and a focus on supporting citizens with their strengths and ongoing independence. 

About the role:

You will manage all elements of the team including supervision of Senior Practitioners/ AMHPs and oversight and support of all the teams’ functions. Supportive and motivational, you will work purposely and cohesively to promote positive outcomes for adults. 

It is essential for anyone applying for this post to have experience of working with people with Mental Health conditions and have a good knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Health Act 1983, and Mental Capacity Act 2005.  

*Please note that experience as a Team Manager and/or Advanced Practitioner with an additional Post Qualifying Award is required i.e. Approved Mental Health Professional, Best Interest Assessor  Practice Educator or leadership and management qualification
