We are seeking two individuals who are passionate about people, their communities and the positive impact that learning can have, to join our Business Development & Engagement team. There are two permanent, full time positions available.
Skills & Learning currently offers over 600 courses, across Dorset in over 30 locations. You will join a team consisting of another Area Programme Manager, Business Outreach Officers, Marketing Officer, Progression & Employability Officer and information, advice and guidance staff. Key objectives are to increase participation, increase average class size and provide high quality project funded and partner delivered learning opportunities. The vacancy has arisen due to new project funding and a restructuring of our curriculum team.

Main Responsibilities

You will be accountable for planning, delivering, managing and quality assuring a programme of courses, both classroom-based and online, which meet the changing needs of learners and employers across the county. This will involve a range of quality assurance activities such as visits to lessons and performance review meetings with partners. The programme will include courses developed for adults, in response to projects funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) and ESFA funded programmes developed and delivered by our sub-contracted partners, which include maths, English, Trade Skills, Hairdressing, Family Learning and Employability to name but a few.
The role will be home based but with the option to work in one of our centres across Dorset.
Our programmes and partners cover the whole of Dorset so there is a travel requirement to meet the needs of the role as well as some flexibility around working hours.
The Ideal Candidate

This is a managerial role and contract/project management skills are essential. You will performance manage our portfolio of sub-contractors as well as manage the contracts and projects within the UKSPF funding activity, so our ideal candidate will be someone with a background in adult education, who has experience in managing teams and can get projects underway efficiently and see them through to the end successfully. You will have a flexible approach to working hours as our programmes run during the day, evenings and some weekends so there will be times when you are required to work outside of usual working hours. You will also be able to travel across Dorset for meetings and quality assurance activities.
Ideally you will have a teaching qualification.
