About the Team and Role

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity in Gloucestershire Highways working in our Public Rights of Way team assisting in the highway authority’s role to assert and protect the use of public Rights of Way, and to maintain and secure improvements to the network in the area.


Gloucestershire has a public Rights of Way network extending to over 3500 miles across diverse landscapes including the Cotswolds, the Forest of Dean and Severn Vale. The County Council is looking to recruit an Area Public Rights of Way Officer who will look after the public Rights of Way network in an area of the county, responding to reports from the public and stakeholders, arranging works with landowners and contractors including the clearance of vegetation, the repair and replacement of bridges and path surfaces as well as responding to consultations on changes such as development.


About You

The ideal applicant will be a self-starter who is familiar with highways and Rights of Way law and who can communicate effectively and tactfully to resolve issues on the network, working alone and as part of a wider team. Providing an excellent level of customer service to external customers and members through face to face, informal and formal written and verbal communications.

You should have experience dealing with a wide range of people and stakeholders, working within legal constraints to deliver programmes and works to maintain and improve the network in your area.
