Blackberries Childcare Group are looking for a highly qualified, ambitious Area Special Educational Needs Coordinator& Funding Lead to support across our Group provisions.

Responsible to: Company Director, Operations Director, Finance Director, & Head of Early Years’

Salary: Minimum £25,480 – Maximum £29,120 per year

Competitive Salary Dependent on Qualification and Experience

Hours: Minimum 35 hours per week

Business Hours: Monday to Friday - 07:30-18:00

Company Closures: Statutory Bank Holidays + one week per calendar year.

Your role within Blackberry House Day Nursery:

Quality:

  • To be responsible for ensuring high-quality of teaching is effective in all settings, ensuring that staff are appropriately trained and debriefed for their role and offer appropriate stimulation and support to the children.
  • To be responsible for liaising with Senior Nursery Managers ensuring the level of support to Setting Managers is effective and that the systems for observation and record keeping is regularly assessed; monitored and procedures assessed and evaluated.
  • To liaise closely with parents/carers, informing them about the Nursery and its SEN curriculum, ensuring nursery procedures for the exchange of information about the children’s progress are in place and effectively supporting the staff in ideas and events to encourage parents’ involvement. To ensure parent newsletters are current and distributed.

SEN:

  • To take responsibility for implementing and overseeing ICP plans, and curriculum plans which ensure that each child is working towards desirable early learning goals; to monitor the effectiveness of the groups’ SEND Support and Speech and Language Support in our Nursery curriculum, supporting the setting visions.
  • To support investigations into children’s individual needs and assess whether additional training for staff, equipment or resources or possibly apply for Early Years access support funding for a 1:1 support worker is required upon entry into each setting
  • To compile Behaviour Plans and Charts to support manage effectively children’s behaviour. To set Risk assessments to support challenging behaviour to ensure staff are working simultaneously together with parents.
  • To support and implement ICP and IEP targets and communicate effectively with key practitioners and gather data, records, and observations for the purpose of applications under EYASF and EHCP.
  • To ensure all Child “Getting to Know You” documents are regularly updated and shared to support Transition documents liaising closely with parents. To provide supporting Health Care Plans where required and updated Allergy documentation for all children within Units to include other documentation as required to support children’s Nursery care.
  • To support the SEN team with regards the organisation of staff meetings and those meetings necessary with outside professionals.

Funding:

  • To be responsible for the importing of data from providers using the online portals and database, clarify any resulting queries with providers and amending data accordingly in order to be responsible for the preparation of accurate and timely payment schedules.
  • To implement and monitor the payment process for any additional funding such as EYPP, DAF, SEN, SENIF+, CIC, LAC, EHCP & Inclusion Fund and the cross-border policy for payment of children.
  • Advise and support Nursery Managers on funding-related matters. Manage local authority updates, actioning as per company processes. Update term dates and Early Years rates on the nursery billing system.
  • Process Early Years funding claims accurately in line with Local Authority schedules. Track and reconcile outstanding Early Years payments, addressing discrepancies. Maintain precise records of funding on local authority portals and nursery billing system.

*Your Qualifications and Experience:*

  • Experience in managing nurseries with high occupancy.
  • Early Years BA Hons Degree, Teaching Degree, National BTEC Diploma in Early Years, Diploma in Pre-school Practice Course, NVQ Level 3 or SVQ
  • Designated SEN Qualification
  • BA (Hons) Special Educational Needs and Disability // NASENCO Award
