Art Technician
SALARY: NJC GRADE 4, points 5 - 6 £23,500 - £23,893 (£6,566 - £6,676 pro rata)
HOURS: Permanent 12 hours per week across 3-4 days. Term time only.
Job Summary:
The post supports the teaching and learning within the Art department of the school.
The postholder is responsible for maintaining a safe and efficient learning environment for students and maintaining tools, equipment and resources.
The postholder is responsible for the acquisition, organisation and dissemination of resources to support teaching and learning and may support class practical work.
The post is term time only.

Educated to a GCSE standard
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- An active interest and experience in practical and conceptual aspects of Art and Design.
- Knowledge of relevant art equipment
- Knowledge of materials, manipulating and processing them
- Managing a budget and ordering resources

- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Proactive and helpful attitude towards staff, students and parents
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Self-motivated
- An interest in working with students
Main Responsibilities include:
- To help maintain a safe, tidy, effective and efficient learning environment in Art and Design classrooms
- To report any Health and Safety concerns to the Community & Facility Manager and/or Business Development Manager and be familiar with the Health and Safety Policy.
- To report any broken or damaged fixtures, furniture or fittings.
- To keep secure any hazardous materials.
- Keeping stock control and managing resources in liaison with the Subject leader of Art and Finance Manager.
- To manage student payments for materials, equipment and folders.
Duties & Responsibilities
Main duties include:
- To plan ahead at busy times and set up ahead of lessons if required.
- To prepare resources for Art staff.
- To clear away equipment and return to storage.
- To be on hand when a class is doing practical work to support the teacher.
- To maintain stock levels of commonly used materials and consumables.
- Preparing materials.
- Support with the Kiln.
- To organize and monitor stock cupboards
- To order resources as needed and directed by Subject Leader of Art
- To support with the exhibition of art work across the school and in the Summer Exhibition.
- Any other duties that may be required to assist in the smooth running of the wider school
Flexibility:
To deliver services effectively, a degree of flexibility is needed and the post holder may be required to perform work not specifically referred to above.
