Artist Facilitator’s Assistant

Main Duties

ActionSpace are seeking an Assistant Artist Facilitator to support our two Brent studio groups.

ActionSpace has been working in Brent for over 5 years and runs two weekly supported studio sessions for local learning disabled artists. The studio nurtures young talent, working with artists aged 18-35. Artists develop their individual practice with the support of the Artist Facilitator and Assistant.

Note: This role is initially for three months, from May – July 2023 but there is the possibility extend.

Skills and Experience Required

• Practising artist with experience of using a range of visual arts materials and processes in art practice, including painting, drawing, 3d, digital.
• Excellent communication skills, able to adapt communication style according to the person/people they are communicating with and to support a social and friendly atmosphere in the studio.
• Reliable, with excellent time keeping.
• Practical – able to put guidance into practice on how to respond to the learning or creative needs of others.
• Experience of working with or supporting learning disabled people is desirable but not essential.
• Knowledge of the local art and creative scene in Brent would be an advantage.
• Creative and adaptable – able to adapt to new situations as they arise with the guidance of the Artist Facilitator.
