Hays Accountancy & Finance are partnering with a leading and growing charity based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire to recruit a hands-on and dynamic Assistant Accountant/Management Accountant for a minimum of 12 months fixed term contract. Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, this position will support the production of monthly management accounts, ad-hoc projects, and duties, while taking ownership of their Sage 200 system. Your new role
Your key duties will involve the preparation/production of monthly management accounts, variance analysis, supporting the budgeting/forecasting process, and balance sheet processes. You will post journals, accruals, prepayments, and maintain the fixed asset register. You will support the Finance Manager in year-end and month-end duties, support the transactional finance team when needed, and be involved in ad-hoc duties/projects as the charity grows further. You will take ownership of the Sage 200 system from an accounting perspective and support others within the team with problem-solving and financial queries.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this hands-on Management Accountant/Assistant Accountant role, you will need experience within a similar position, strong MS excel skills, and the ability to manage workloads to time-constraint deadlines. You will have strong communication skills to build internal and external relationships at all levels, a hands-on and adaptable working approach, along with being a key problem solver to work using your own initiative, but also within a team environment. You will be qualified by experience, AAT qualified or part-qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA. Experience within the charity sector and Sage 200 would be advantageous but not essential.
What you'll get in return
This Management Accountant/Assistant Accountant role offers a salary between £30,000 - £37,000 per annum dependable on experience, based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.
