Assistant Accountant

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Accountant to join our team in the Ancillary Division based in our Head Office in Gateshead.  The Ancillary division encompasses several varied businesses within the Vertu Motors group, such as Ace Parts, The Taxi Centre, Vans Direct and Vertu Garage Assist.

This is a full-time, permanent role where we are offering a basic salary up to £27,000 depending on experience plus company benefits.

You will work alongside the Accountant in the production of spreadsheets and statistical data to support the management team, and as an aid to business decisions.

Your regular tasks will include:

• Sales ledger credit control
• Checking monthly BACS run and setting up intercompany collections
• Cashflow
• Daily banking
• Balance sheet reconciliations
• Assisting with monthly forecasts and estimates
• Accruals and prepayments

You will also perform ad-hoc work to support the Accountant.

The ideal candidate will have accounting experience and will have commenced an accounting qualification (for example AAT) and is looking to take the next step up. A working knowledge of the Kerridge accounting system would be ideal but not essential, as well as previous Motor Trade experience. You will have the ability to communicate effectively with all financial and non-financial colleagues, clients and customers.
