Assistant Buyer

REED Procurement are working with a large employer in the South Wales area who are looking for an Assistant Buyer to join their team. The successful candidate will be instrumental in orchestrating tender processes and managing supplier relationships. This role is suited to an individual with a methodical approach to data handling, market assessment, and stakeholder engagement, who is also adept at navigating procurement systems and contributing to policy adherence.

This is a brand new role within the business and will have opportunities to progress within the organisation.

Duties:
• Lead and support the execution of tender processes, including data gathering, market research, and analysis.
• Engage with internal stakeholders to define procurement needs and facilitate collaborative sessions.
• Assist in the development of tender specifications and the preparation of invitation-to-tender (ITT) and request-for-quote (RFQ) documents.
• Utilise and optimize electronic procurement platforms for streamlined operations.
• Analyse tender outcomes and assist in the negotiation process to secure advantageous terms.
• Formulate supplier selection recommendations and prepare related documentation.
• Facilitate the onboarding of new suppliers and the integration of new processes post-award.
• Act as a primary point of contact for procurement-related queries from both suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Offer system support and training to internal users, ensuring smooth procurement operations.
• Maintain and update the supplier database to ensure compliance with procurement policies.
• Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of procurement practices and team performance.
• Manage and maintain accurate procurement records and contractual documentation.
• Undertake additional departmental tasks to support the procurement and logistics team as necessary.

This role would suit someone who has expeirence in a Procurement Support type role whereby you have supported a Senior Member of a Procurement Team and gained some understanding of Contract Processes and e-procurement tools. Industry experience within the Public Sector or Financial Services would be beneficial.
