Assistant Buyer / Purchaser – Ringwood – up to £27k

As the Assistant Buyer, you will play a key role in supporting the Purchasing team in various tasks related to procurement and supplier management.

Responsibilities of the Assistant Buyer / Purchaser:
- Communicate with suppliers to obtain quotes, negotiate terms, and ensure timely delivery of products.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to secure advantageous terms and resolve issues promptly.
- Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, delivery, and cost effectiveness.
- Create and manage purchase orders accurately and efficiently using the company's procurement system.
- Monitor and track open purchase orders, ensuring timely receipt of goods and services.
- Collaborate with internal departments to confirm order specifications, communicate lead times and resolve discrepancies.
- Ensure system and purchase order prices are accurate.
- Work with Accounts team to resolve PO/Invoice queries.
- Assist in sourcing alternative products to long term out of stock lines
- Assist in maintaining optimal inventory levels to meet customer demands while minimizing excess stock.
- Assist with annual stock take process
- Prepare reports and analyse data related to purchasing activities, supplier performance, and cost savings initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and industry regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and other relevant documentation.
Personal Attributes of the Assistant Buyer / Purchaser
• Proven experience in a similar purchasing role preferrable
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
• Proficient in using MS Office applications.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
