The Technical Sourcing team
Within Amici, the Technical Sourcing Team works closely with customers to support them in sourcing all the items they require for their laboratory operations to run smoothly. The team’s scope covers a broad spectrum of products, from biologicals and chemicals to plasticware consumables and office supplies, doing whatever it takes to get a successful result for the customer in a timely manner.
As part of the Technical Sourcing Team, our mission is to genuinely partner with customers and provide them with the best purchasing service for their laboratory products. We take the stress of their sourcing and inventory management to allow them to focus on making life changing scientific discoveries.
About the role
We are looking for a talented individual to join our team as an Assistant Buyer. This unique role is fast-paced and intrapreneurial, working closely with both our external customers and suppliers. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing products, negotiating with suppliers, and providing unbeatable levels of service and communication to our customers.
This is a permanent and full-time role. This role is Hybrid, working 2 days a week in our Glasgow office (Wednesday and Thursday) and 3 days a week from home (Monday, Tuesday, Friday).
What will you be doing?
- Managing ad hoc requests for laboratory products, including understanding customer requirements, identifying required product specifications, and reviewing options with the customer.
- Researching the market to ensure options are found which meet customer expectations and negotiating the best pricing.
- You’ll be responsible for ensuring product information hosted on our purchasing platform is accurate and for managing and negotiating pricing updates as necessary.
- You will demonstrate effective stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence suppliers and customers.
What are we looking for?
- Degree in life sciences or experience in a life science organisation.
- Experience working in a customer facing role.
- Skilled in influencing, communicating effectively and persuasively to a range of audiences, both internally and externally.
- Effective consultive approach with customers and suppliers, able to ask probing questions and work collaboratively to solve problems.
- Great attention to detail.
- You will enjoy working within a fast-paced environment, possess a ‘can do’ attitude, with the ability to ‘flex’ and perform as a strong team player.
- Willing to work flexible hours supporting our customers in the USA as required.
This is a very exciting opportunity for a recent life-science graduate with an interest in business or someone early in their life-science/biotech career who wants to move out of the lab.
