Job description

We are the world’s largest university press. We have both a worldwide reach and a personal understanding of local needs, partnering on the ground to adapt publications and resources to meet the individual needs of communities, societies, and countries. We partner with researchers, educators, and technology partners to stay ahead of the changing ways people around the world are accessing and sharing knowledge. With a presence in more than 50 countries and millions of customers around the world, an idea launched at OUP can have global impact.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Within a diverse and social team you’ll be a key role within the higher education editorial department in ensuring our products are engaging university students. This role will provide you with the opportunity to get involved with some of our best digital innovation to date and work closely with other departments whilst taking ownership over your own projects.

Key duties include:

  • Gain and maintain understanding of the competitive environment and customer needs by interacting with them directly through reviews, surveys, direct engagement, and voice of the customer
  • Complete detailed analyses of our competitors' products and analyse third-party data
  • Coordinating the market review of new proposals: research reviewers, issue review invitations, set deadlines/follow up, collate and anonymize reviews
  • Coordinate external peer review of draft manuscripts
  • Commission and coordinate the preparation of market-required resources to support the use of our content and products in the classroom
  • Evaluate content for quality and fit with market need. Draw on usage data (where available), market feedback, and other metrics to inform strategic decisions about which supplements to support
  • Manage projects to ensure their completion to brief, schedule, budget, and in line with available resource
  • Manage author relationships
  • Ensure project tracking systems and CRM (customer relationship management) systems are up to date with accurate data

We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office.

About You

You’ll be an organized and inquisitive individual who is looking to learn and develop. You also require the following:

Essential:

  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to problem solve and work on own initiative
  • An interest in educational publishing
  • Excellent communication skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience and/or knowledge of educational publishing.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of Higher Education markets.

Benefits

We care about work/life balance here at OUP. With this in mind we offer 25 days’ holiday that rises with service, plus bank holidays and Christmas closure (3-days) and a 35-hour working week. We are open to discussing flexibility in respect to working patterns, dependent on role. We also have a great variety of active employee networks and societies.

We help make your money go further by contributing to your pension up to 12%, offering loans and savings schemes through our partnership with Salary Finance, in addition to travel to work schemes and access to a wide range of local discounts.

This role comes with discretionary annual bonus.

Please see our Rewards and Recognition page for more information.
