Historic Royal Palaces is the independent charity that looks after the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, Kensington Palace, the Banqueting House, Kew Palace and Hillsborough Castle & Gardens.

Based at Tower of London with occasional travel across all HRP sites.

We are a team of people who love and look after six of the most wonderful palaces in the world. We create space for spirits to stir and be stirred.
We are seeking a fulltime Assistant Curator (Historic Buildings) to join a team of research led curators to help deliver an ambitious programme of conservation, infrastructure, and public engagement projects at the Tower of London. This role will work collaboratively with colleagues across Historic Royal Palaces, to help research and share the story of our six palaces and the people whose lives helped shape them. The special focus of this role will be researching the architectural history of buildings within the Tower of London, including the Waterloo Block and Brass Mount, and the writing of research reports and Statements of Significance.
About you
You will be passionate about architectural history, at home working with primary sources in historic archives, and confident in your ability to communicate your knowledge to a wide variety of different audiences. We are looking for someone who has experience researching HISTORIC BUILDINGS and determining their significance in line with Historic England’s Conservation Principles, Policies and Guidance. You will be comfortable working on multiple projects with competing priorities and deadlines.
