The Section 38 Team, which is part of Planning & Environment is engaged in supporting the continued economic regeneration of Warwickshire. We deal with developments that vary in scale, location and complexity, and the team is responsible for providing statutory highway advice to the Local Planning Authorities, pre-application advice, as well as carrying out technical approvals and inspections for new road adoptions associated with developments throughout the County.
We are looking for people who have some experience in civil engineering construction/groundworks who are looking for the next step in progressing their career.
About the Role
The job description for this role is streamlined and includes role responsibilities for both the highway advice and technical approval aspects of work carried out by the team. However, the successful applicant for this post will principally be involved working with the engineers who are responsible for the technical approval of new highways, carrying out inspections of the construction to ensure that it is built to standard, and liaising with the developers/contractors throughout the process. An aptitude for communicating both verbally and in writing is essential in order to liaise with our many internal and external colleagues and customers.
Due to the nature of the role the ability to travel effectively throughout Warwickshire is essential.
Key Requirements
- Thorough knowledge of highway construction processes, specifications and site Health and Safety legislation/working practices
- Experience in dealing with material testing, tickets, CBR testing and cores
- Can produce clear inspection reports and remedial lists
- Develop good relationships with site managers/contractors to aid in the build quality delivered
- Organise own workload/site visits
