Job description

London Borough of Harrow is the 12th largest London borough, and one of the most culturally diverse local authorities in the UK. It’s a great place to live and work, with high achieving schools, a close and friendly community, and exceptional transport links to central London and the rest of the South East. Our Corporate Plan sets out a clear roadmap to make our borough a place everyone is proud to call home. It’s built on three corporate priorities – a council that puts residents first, a borough that is clean and safe, and a place where those in need are supported.

As the council’s lead for services for adults, children and young adults under 25 with disabilities, Learning Disabilities / autism, and Mental Health services, you’ll oversee high-quality integrated health and care provision in a context of increasing demand and resource constraint. Overseeing a committed and full-service in-house team, you’ll manage delivery across a number of health and social care practices and providers, with the overarching aim of reducing fragmentation, improving access and better meeting the needs of individuals and their carers. It will be vital that you can lead in complex, changeable systems, co-ordinating the full range of professionals and partners to produce increasingly strong and positive outcomes.

A qualified social worker, you’ll bring extensive experience of working, managing and leading within a comparable service. We want to see evidence that you have led and delivered change across complex services, and that you can undertake high-quality strategic planning and service development with safeguarding at its heart. A thorough understanding of the needs both of adults, children and young people with disabilities, and of their parents and carers, is essential. Alongside a comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, regulation and guidance, and the Children in Need Assessment Framework/ Common Assessment Framework process, you must have a close and current awareness of the national agenda in this area and will be able to communicate an inspiring picture of what best practice looks like.

For a confidential conversation, contact our consultants Dawn Faulkner or Sean Anderson on 0121 312 3755.
