Form of workNational Express are looking to recruit an experienced Assistant Financial Accountant, based at our Head Office in Digbeth. The successful candidate will report directly to the Senior Financial Accountant this role offers a broad scope of responsibilities and the opportunity to add real value to the finance function. The role is responsible for financial controls, bank/cash activity and processes for the UK & Ireland Division.
What you'll do:
- Cash monitoring / controls – ensuring all the daily cash controls are robust and adhered to in the business. Manage relationship with G4S providing services relating to Finance
- Balance sheet reconciliations - ensuring all delegated monthly balance sheet reconciliations are completed with all supporting documentation in a timely manner
- Finance systems – responsibility for posting journals, raising / checking purchase orders, reconciling internal systems as required, maintaining, and proactively recommending improvements to finance processes
- Petty cash – preparation and financial control of the petty cash managing the process with Coach Stations and Depots as appropriate
- Year End support as required with internal and external auditors
- Ensure the reliability & integrity of financial information
- Review, improve & simplify the departmental processes
- Administrative duties as appropriate to support the role
What you'll need:
- Ability to use Microsoft Office applications at Advanced level (e.g. Excel)
- Numerical and analytical skills – attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Effective administration and organisational skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with experience of managing external relationships
- Minimum 3 years working in a finance environment
- Knowledge of Open Accounts beneficial
