Job description

Assistant Flagship Branch Manager

  • Opportunity to lead a team within our successful Flagship agency

  • opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our members and the community

  • Work in partnership with The National Farmers Union (NFU)

About the role

At NFU Mutual, we believe that building strong relationships is key to our success. Our reputation as one of the UK’s leading general insurers and financial services companies has been built on this foundation, and it’s what keeps our customers loyal. Our sales teams across the UK have found that building trusting relationships with our customers pays dividends - our excellent policy renewal rate each year is testament to that.

But what makes this opportunity truly unique? For starters, you’ll be taking on a dual role. As the Assistant Manager of our flagship Thornbury office, you’ll lead a team of sales and servicing professionals, driving high performance in all business areas. You’ll be at the forefront of our flagship strategy, testing, piloting, and implementing process and procedure changes that will support roll-out to other agencies across the country.

With the help of our dedicated field support network, including Agency Training Specialists, Sales Development Consultants, and the local Sales Manager, you will be empowered to serve the insurance and financial needs of local members. You will also be responsible for driving and developing new business, promoting, and selling our award-winning insurance and financial products, while ensuring we maintain the attentive, personal service we are famous for.

But that’s not all. In the second part of your role, you will act as Group Secretary on behalf of the National Farmers Union (NFU). As an NFU Group Secretary you’ll play a major role at the heart of your local farming community. You'll champion the interests of local farmers, arrange local meetings and events, recruit and retain members and keep them up-to-date on agricultural policy. With full backing from the NFU, you’ll have access to expert advice and specialist support on everything from policy and increasing membership to marketing and media.

The National Farmers Union (NFU) represents the voice of agriculture up to the highest levels, on both national and international platforms. For more than 110 years, the NFU and NFU Mutual have enjoyed a close relationship, working together to provide a first-class service.

We believe that your role is not just a job, but an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our members and the community. We encourage you to bring your passion, creativity, and expertise to the table, and we will provide you with the resources and support you need to succeed

This role falls under Insurance Distribution Directive requirements, and as a result, role holders will be required to demonstrate ongoing Continuous Professional Development in role, along with undergoing regular re-screening to show that they are of “Good Repute”.  Further information can be found in the FCA Handbook.

About you

You will bring your expertise in managing and leading teams in a regulated environment, with a track record of success in driving performance and achieving results. You’ll have excellent communication skills and be able to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels. You’ll also be highly organised and be able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

As well as the above you will have the following:

  • Highly analytical with a strategic mindset

  • Business development experience

  • Ability to manage a strict workload

  • Highly customer focussed with great relationship skills

  • Full driving licence

At NFU Mutual, we support an inclusive workplace and value all the differences that make us unique.  We celebrate the creativity and innovation that comes from diverse perspectives and experiences and share a common vision of doing the right thing for our customers and employees.
