Summary
As Assistant Gardener, you’ll be working with a team to deliver the day-to-day care of the garden and maintain high presentation standards. This role will include a range of practical tasks to develop, improve and look after the garden and contribute to the delivery of projects.?
The proposed start date is early May. Some weekend working, on a rota basis will be required.
This is our anticipated salary from 1st April but is subject to final confirmation following the Trust’s annual pay review process.
What it's like to work here
At Clumber, you'll form a part of a passionate and hardworking team during our busiest time of year May-Oct. In this time you'll work across many parts of the estate. including our 4 acre historic Walled Kitchen Garden and Glasshouses. However, the majority of your time will see you working to maintain high presentation standards around the main visitor core and in our historic Pleasure grounds. Here you'll work alongside other gardening team members and volunteers to maintain and rejuvenate the picturesque spaces, delivering a new maintenance and development plan.
The team have a strong inclusion and development ethos and are looking for an enthusiastic team member to help delver great horticulture and great customer service for our supporters.
What you'll be doing
Daily responsibilities may include assisting with the planting and maintaining of shrub and borders, mulching, hedge cutting and lawn mowing. You’ll work alongside Gardeners and a team of volunteers. You’ll talk to the public every day, answering a variety of garden-related questions and talking about what you're doing with pride. We’re looking for someone with a practical approach, getting the day-to-day work done and a passion for plants. The role can sometimes be physically challenging, and we use a wide range of machinery and equipment to help us get our work done. The use of machinery such as tractors, hedge trimmers and pedestrian mowers is essential, but training will be provided.
