ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER

Our client is situated in the beautiful Waveney Valley on the Suffolk/Norfolk border, close to the market town of Diss. A family run business, they have been supplying fresh herbs and leafy salads for customers all over the UK since 2006. Due to continued success, they are now on the hunt for a hands-on Assistant General Manager to help support the day-to-day production.

The Assistant General Manager is specifically accountable to the Head of Growing for:

• Production and Harvesting of Field Grown Crops
• To ensure that all Plant and Equipment to achieve the above is in good working order and is in safe condition
• Induction Training of All New Employees
• Staff familiarity and compliance with Health and Safety Notices and ‘Operating Procedures’

In respect of the above, The Assistant General Manager is specifically responsible for:

• The completeness and accuracy of Growing Records – ground work, planting or drilling, irrigation, fertilisation and crop protection
• The development of systems of production to reduce operational costs
• In the absence of the Growing Manager, the Assistant General Manager will undertake those tasks conducted on a daily basis by the Growing Manager :

i.e.

• The overall Management (Co-ordination) of Growing and Harvesting Operations
• The creation of accurate Cropping plan and budgets to meet the requirements of the business and the development of techniques to ensure total cost effectiveness
• The responsibilities to undertake the necessary trial work to ensure crop range/operations techniques are continually developed and added to as appropriate
• The provision of weekly crop availability forecasts

PA1 & 2 is essential for this role, along with full valid UK Driving Licence.
