Assistant Group Accountant

Astute Recruitment are partnering with a well-established business based in Derby who are looking to add an Assistant Group Accountant to their dynamic finance team.

This role will be key in providing support to the finance and operation team by completing routine financial and management accounting tasks across the group.

Responsibilities:

Accounting:

• Prepare month-end files in readiness for the month-end process
• Review and reconcile intercompany transactions
• Prepare and produce management accounts for all group companies, posting month end journals including fixed assets, depreciation, GRNI, accruals and prepayments
• Prepare financial accounts and reporting; ensuring all balance sheet items are fully reconciled
• Produce management information and key KPI performance reports as required

Fixed Assets:

• Ensure assets are capitalised through the ledger monthly
• Calculate the monthly depreciation charge following the monthly asset capitalisation
• Control the reconciliation of the fixed asset suspense account
• Ensure the Fixed Asset Registers are maintained and reconciled
• Raising of projects codes to monitor capital spend, highlighting any overspends

Further responsibilities:

• Intercompany reconciliations
• Prepare and produce VAT return schedules
• Support in preparing budgets and forecasts
• Prepare information and questionnaires for ONS submission

Candidate Requirements:

• AAT qualified
• Strong Excel skills
• Willing to travel within the UK
• Confident communicator
• Acute attention to detail
• Strong analytical skills

Benefits and Hours:

• Salary up to £40,000

• Working hours of 8:30am until 4:30pm
