Our client seeks an Assistant International Accountant on a permanent full-time (35-hour week) basis.

They embrace flexibility and offer hybrid working, which means their teams come together when they need to collaborate. Although this role is contractually based at their Cambridge office, you will also be able to work from home within the UK, with the expectation that you will attend their offices and travel as needed for your role. In this role you will attend their Cambridge office at least once a week on a regular basis (initially more frequently to support your induction). This role also requires international travel to visit and flexibility to support their offices in China, India, Japan, Germany and USA. Our client is the world’s leading chemistry community, operating internationally but predominantly based in its offices in Cambridge and London. They are a major publisher of academic journals and, along with income from other sources, invest widely in furthering Chemistry through charitable activities.

In this role you will support their International Finance Business Partner in managing the finances for the international subsidiaries of the registered charity. You will work with a network of financial advisors to help ensure that they meet all of its statutory obligations overseas including annual audits and regulatory and tax compliance. As an Assistant International Accountant , you will also help to produce budgets for international teams and ensure timely reporting on financial performance, working closely with their Processing and Treasury Supervisors and their Business Partners.

They are looking for:

• Requires, as a minimum, a part qualified ACA/ACCA accountant working towards the relevant final stage examinations (this role will require a relevant DBS and qualification check).
• Capable of working within tight month-end deadlines and taking responsibility for sections of the reporting timetable, with keen attention to detail, assuring the accuracy of outputs.
• Proactive and capable of engaging with external parties such as auditors and tax advisors.
• Working knowledge of UK GAAP or IAS, and some familiarity with the key charity reporting requirements as set out in the latest SORP.
• Experience working with international subsidiaries, especially in the United States, India and China, would be beneficial.
• A working knowledge of VAT (compliance and accounting requirements).
• Confident using computerised accounting systems including ideally; Netsuite, Adaptive and Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project etc.
