Job description

Paul Smith is one of Britain’s leading independent design companies. We champion positivity, curiosity and creativity. These qualities underpin every Paul Smith design, whether it’s a shirt, a shop or a special collaboration. Reaffirming the values that Paul set down in 1970, ‘classic with a twist’ remains the guiding principle of the company. Happily positioned between high fashion and formalwear, while taking reference from both, Paul Smith has always been proud to stand apart.

Based from our Nottingham Office, the purpose of this role is to trade any specified Outlet collections to the best potential to meet sales targets and KPI’s, ensuring maximum sell through, optimum margin and minimal terminal stock. You will be required to use all relevant expertise to meet financial targets and to ensure optimum stock flow through the business whilst ensuring the critical path is maintained and followed.

Please note, this is a temporary Maternity Cover contract. We are looking for someone to start mid-June 2024.

The Role
• Update and monitor the WSSI, update the team and wider business on our stock position for the outlet season.
• Set up the seasonal replenishment plan; monitor and adjust it according to each season and for any seasonal requirements.
• Analyse weekly reports, acting on the results and following through with feedback in trade meetings.
• Create and communicate selected weekly trade reports for the wider business and ensure all relevant reporting is kept up to date.
• Manage the commercial calendar seasonal set up, propose in-season promotional activity and monitor performance.
• Oversee targeted markdowns to clear slow-moving stock in season.
• Liaise with Production on stock requirements, ensuring deliveries are on time.
• Publish a monthly stock report, updating all relevant parties on stock availability.
• Assist with covering the customer order and delivery procedure, when required.
• Work with external partners to liquidate excess stock.

Your Skills and Experience
• Previous credible experience in Retail and Merchandising. Ideally a minimum of two years’ experience in a Merchandising Assistant role.
• Advanced Microsoft Office experience, especially Excel covering pivot tables, V-lookups etc.
• Credible experience of the lifestyle market both nationally and internationally.
• Competent at accurately in-putting data, reporting and financial analysis.
• Proven experience of working in a busy environment.

Who you are
• Very methodical, accurate and speedy with excellent planning, prioritisation and organisational skills.
• A team worker who can work using their own initiative and is able to build effective working relationships.
• Has a strong interest in fashion.
• An awareness of the broader fashion and lifestyle market.
• Great interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills.

What’s in it for you
• A generous clothing allowance.
• A discretionary discount on PSL goods.
• Flexi-time and hybrid working.
• An annual leave entitlement of 25 days, plus Bank Holidays.

At Paul Smith, we celebrate and encourage applications from all walks of life into our growing workforce. We are committed to empowering people from any background, belief system, or ethnicity, offering an inclusive environment where talent is recognised and valued.
