We're looking for an inspiring leader who's passionate about breaking down barriers and providing inclusive learning opportunities for students and apprentices with more complex needs!
As Assistant Principal, you will provide leadership across the College for our SEND & Additional Learning Support team, ensuring that all students and apprentices with additional learning needs are enabled and empowered to learn.
You will also provide leadership for our Pre-Technical and Discrete High Needs curriculum academy teams, working to improve the student experience and student outcomes, guiding the curriculum academies in their journey from good to great.
Your guidance will be pivotal in developing & growing an already successful provision, ensuring The Sheffield College is a supportive and inclusive community for those with complex needs in the Sheffield region.
After your first year in-post, success would mean you have:
  • Effectively developed and implemented the cross-college growth strategy for High Needs, Pre-Technical and Alternative Provision to meet local demand
  • Rolled out modern and effective additional learning support that meets or exceeds the latest legislative and reform requirements
  • Led on the achievement of your area's key performance indicators
  • Maintained up-to-date knowledge regarding the latest developments within the High Needs, SEND, Pre-Technical and Alternative Provision space to innovate in best practice and ensure the college is working in line with current legislation
Core responsibilities include:
  • Being an active member of the College's Leadership Team and working collaboratively to deliver our strategy and objectives
  • Providing strategic leadership to your areas including line managing the Academy Directors for our Pre-Technical curriculum, our Discrete High Needs curriculum and our Head of SEND and Additional Learning Support
  • Leading and supporting the development of relevant college strategies, policies and procedures
  • Supporting curriculum to further improve their delivery and recording of ALS
  • Working with the Local Authority and other strategic partners to maximise funding and learning opportunities
  • Ensuring compliance with Local Authority, Funding bodies and Auditors
  • Embedding safeguarding policies and procedures and ensuring adherence
  • Promoting our values of Fairness, Respect, Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Engagement

  • Have a track record of success in management/leadership roles in SEND/Inclusion
  • Can build successful external relationships. Including the Local Authority, the Parents and Carers Forum and local schools
  • Hold experience in delivering change across an Academy or College-wide
  • Have deep knowledge of SEND legislation & Code of Practice, as well as the wider FE education landscape including High Needs Funding and OFSTED
