Salary: £75,231 - £84,663
1 FTE
Hours: 37
About Us:
London South East Colleges is a thriving and forward-thinking College, with campuses in Bromley, Bexley, Orpington, and Greenwich. Employing nearly 14,000 students and 1,000 staff members, we play a pivotal role in shaping the lives and futures of learners who come from across London. As the proud sponsor of the London South East Academies Trust, a growing Multi Academy with a proven track record of academic and financial success, our combined turnover of approximately £85m reflects our ambitious growth plans. Join us at this exciting juncture and contribute to our dynamic and successful organisation.
As an Assistant Principal, you will play a pivotal role in achieving our ambitious Ofsted goals, fostering growth in High Needs Students and SEND provision, and adapting to the evolving educational landscape. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a consistent and innovative learning experience, aligning with government reforms and the Digital Transformation Strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead Education for High Needs Students and Additional Learning Support, shaping strategic decisions and collaborating with SLT.
  • Foster a positive culture of high standards, working closely with Curriculum Directors, SLT, and Quality Directors to realize the college's educational vision.
  • Implement robust policies, ensuring sustained improvement in teaching, learning, and assessment strategies, with a focus on at-risk learners.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to enhance the learner and staff experience across all sites.

Management and Leadership:
  • Lead Curriculum Managers and teams, ensuring consistent management and a comprehensive experience for all departments.
  • Direct the improvement of Additional Learning Support Service and Learning Resource Centre provision.
  • Provide inspirational leadership, motivating, developing, and supporting staff effectively.
  • Manage resources, budgets, and compliance, preparing for internal and external inspections.

Curriculum Development:
  • Lead curriculum development for High Needs Programmes and Additional Learning Support, ensuring compliance in all subject areas.
  • Collaborate with English and maths departments to enroll learners correctly and improve outcomes.
  • Build strong relationships with employers and stakeholders, contributing to the annual business, curriculum, and growth plans.

Quality Improvement:
  • Implement quality improvement cycles within the assigned areas, maintaining high standards and challenging poor performance.
  • Drive up attendance, monitor "at-risk learners," and ensure effective parental involvement.
  • Conduct regular work scrutiny to drive compliance and improvements in teaching, learning, and assessment.

Requirements:
  • Proven leadership experience in education management.
  • In-depth knowledge of curriculum development, quality improvement, and compliance.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strategic thinker with a passion for enhancing the educational experience.

Benefits:
In addition to a competitive salary, our benefits package includes 43 days of annual leave (excluding bank holidays), pension schemes, an employee assistance programme, free onsite parking, salary sacrifice cycle to work/bike loan scheme, annual season ticket loan, and more.
Note: As the College supports children and vulnerable adults, all staff are subject to an 'Enhanced' DBS check and Children's Barred List check if in regulated activity. We conduct social media checks for shortlisted candidates in accordance with KCSIE guidance. Applications from black and minority ethnic candidates are particularly welcome, as they are underrepresented at this level. If a suitable applicant applies, we may close the vacancy sooner.
