As an Assistant Project Manager, you will have responsibility for the delivery of low complexity projects and provide key support to the senior leaders in the delivery of commission obligations and internal project performance to manage the Client’s and Mott MacDonald obligations on various interesting clean and waste water and environmental projects. As part of a Core Team within the ENW Portfolio, you will work closely with the wider Advisory Project and Programme management teams to manage the project deliverables to the Client expectations. You will demonstrate a passion to work collaboratively with our client teams to deliver their complex projects to time, cost and quality with a commitment to safety. You will take ownership of and responsibility for the successful delivery of your projects and tasks, identifying and monitoring project risks and opportunities, and ensuring good project governance. Essential experience
  • A degree in a project management, construction or engineering subject
  • Working towards a relevant professional qualification with APM, RICS, CIOB, RIBA, or an engineering discipline and commitment to CPD (Continuing Professional Development)
  • Knowledgeable in all core project management competencies and demonstrated competence in the majority
  • Ability to operate both autonomously and as a part of a larger team
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with clients, stakeholders and colleagues
  • Excellent IT Skills – Word/Excel/PowerPoint
  • Excellent oral and written communication, organisational skills and good analytical thinking
  • Ability to demonstrate a flexible approach to work and determine own priorities
  • Potential travel required 2-3 times weekly depending on project.

  • Experience in the public sector environment and regulated industries

About the business unit
The Advisory and Programme Delivery (APD) unit delivers management services in all the sectors that Mott MacDonald operate in the Built Environment, Defence, Energy, Water, Transportation and, Education, Health and Care.


The Unit delivers services to projects ranging in scale and complexity up to £20bn, through the technical disciplines of Programme Management, Project Management, Project Controls, Scheduling, Cost Management, Estimating, Infrastructure Finance, Management Consulting, Digital Consulting and Education, Health and Care Management.

Our environment and water portfolio is primarily a UK based business delivering project, programme and commercial management services to regulated water/wastewater clients and the Environment Agency. Our work stretches across the entire project lifecycle, from pre-contract cost estimating and benchmarking to post contract QS services and commercial assurance. For project and programme management we deliver capital projects on behalf of our clients, both internal and external that range from several hundred thousand pounds in value to major projects and programmes worth over £0.5billion. Additionally, we are the home of the cost intelligence service, a specialist team of data analysts and economists who provide expert advice across all sectors on inflation and indexation. We currently work with around half of the UK’s regulated water and wastewater companies. #LI-NM1
