Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Psychologist to be involved in the development and the delivery of the new specialist perinatal loss service in Suffolk.
The perinatal loss pathway is a psychology-led pathway, which specifically aims to provide exceptional, trauma-informed mental health services to perinatal populations who are experiencing moderate to severe mental health difficulties in the context of perinatal loss. The pathway will sit closely alongside the existing perinatal mental health team in Suffolk.
The team will include a Clinical Psychologist, an Assistant Psychologist, a Peer Support Worker and Specialist Maternity Support assistants in each of the acute
The applicant must have excellent literacy and numeracy skills, a psychology degree with 2.1 or above and be eligible for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society. Travel is part of the role and being a car driver is essential.
Within your role you will contribute to:
psychological assessments, formulations and interventions under the supervision of a Clinical psychologist.
you will help to develop and deliver psychologically informed group work and will have access to your own CPD.
you will assist in clinically related administration including audits and collection of statistics and will also contribute to teaching.
you will receive weekly supervision from a qualified Clinical Psychologist.
There will be an expectation to travel across the county and therefore being a car driver is essential.

This new service will form part of the broader community perinatal mental health team, and you will be part of a larger team of psychologists specialising in perinatal mental health. We are able to offer high quality supervision and we have a close relationship with the doctoral training course at the University of East Anglia.
You will be joining us at a very exciting time as you will provide support on the NHS long-term plan ambitions to expand the availability of psychological therapies in perinatal teams.

Role summary:
To support and enhance the professional psychological care of patients within the Directorate, across all aspects of care; providing psychological assessment and psychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist, working independently according to a plan agreed with a qualified clinical psychologist and within the overall framework of the teams’ policies and procedures.
To assist in clinically related administration, teaching and project work.
To take part in research; to collect, input and analyse routine data and to report this to clinical teams, managers and others; to liaise with clinical teams across the directorate.
Under the direction of a practitioner to assist in care clustering in relation to Payment by Results on admission and discharge.
