This is an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Psychologist
78 Crawley Road is a 24 bed modern purpose built facility that provides mental health care for those who require a period of enhanced recovery support. The service is aimed at helping people achieve their own individual aspirations, and to live a meaningful and rewarding life that is as independent as possible.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking a skilled, experienced and enthusiastic Assistant Psychologist to join our team on a on a fixed term basis for 12 months. The successful candidate will be committed to the principles of person-centred service delivery and will be able to demonstrate good personal, professional and clinical skills. The role requires an adaptable, flexible, resilient, hard-working team member who has excellent organisational skills and the ability to use their own initiative. The work will involve a wide range of roles including assessments and clinical intervention under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist as well as assisting with group work, administration, audit, evaluation and research

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To support and enhance the professional psychological care of users of the service, providing psychological assessments and interventions within the scope appropriate to level of experience and training, and to undertaking related tasks to enhance assessment, intervention and evaluation within the care group. To work independently with work managed and goals agreed and reviewed through regular supervision by an HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
  • Honours degree at 2:1 or above in Psychology, or equivalent. Eligible for Graduate Basis for Chartership with the BPS

Knowledge/Experience
Essential criteria
  • Experience of working with people with complex needs
  • Experience of working with people with disabilities, in a health or Mental Health setting and or work with people with complex needs
  • Relevant clinical and research skills
  • Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Basic knowledge of databases, research skills and methodology
  • Experience of group work and individual therapeutic contact
  • Ability to apply existing psychological knowledge to a health context
  • An understanding of psychology applied to health care
