Salary An opportunity has arisen in the Integrated Autism Service within Powys Teaching Health Board.
This is an exciting, busy and challenging time and we are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Assistant Psychologist to work within the team.
The post holder will work with the integrated multi-disciplinary team, and to deliver psychological assessments, interventions, research and also facilitate some of the services group programmes.
The post holder will need to be confident using technology and will be expected to engage with people over the telephone and via video conferencing as well as face to face sessions.
Experience of working with adults who have autism is highly desirable, as is experience of facilitating groups and teaching. A willingness to work with the rest of the team to develop innovative approaches to help this group is essential.
The post requires attention to detail, enthusiasm, flexibility and resilience to work with a developing forward-thinking service. The ability to communicate effectively, and build rapport and effective relationships at all levels is essential. The post holder will ideally have worked in the NHS previously and/or Partnership arena.
To support and enhance the professional psychological care of clients within the Integrated Autism Service, across all sectors of care, providing psychological assessment and psychological interventions, working independently according to a plan agreed with a qualified Psychologist and IAS Service Manager to achieve IAS performance targets, within the overall framework of the policies and procedures. To assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, and development of audit and/or research projects, education and project work.
Assisting a qualified Clinical Psychologist, the Assistant Psychologist will be responsible for the psychological aspects of the integrated approach of the IAS to achieve the multi-disciplinary/multi-agency care provided for adults.
The Assistant Psychologist will liaise with and provide an advisory service for a wide range of voluntary and statutory organisations.
The Assistant Psychologist’s time will be divided between clinical/administrative tasks and research/audit tasks as required.
The Assistant Psychologist will carry an agreed caseload. This work will be managed and assessed at regular intervals by a qualified Clinical Psychologist.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
