Job description

We are an established Learning Disabilities Service within Forward Thinking Birmingham (FTB).
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated, enthusiastic and compassionate Assistant Psychologist to join our dynamic Learning Disabilities Team based at Finch Road, Lozells. The role involves supporting children and young people with moderate to profound Learning Disabilities between 0 and 19 years of age in the community who have complex mental health needs and/or behaviours which present challenges to themselves and to those who care for them. You will have the opportunity to undertake direct clinical work under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist, contribute to NICE concordant assessments and interventions in addition to supporting the MDT with group work, routine outcome data collection and quality service developments.
You will strive to facilitate the understanding of children and young people referred to the service and improvements in their quality of life by providing professional psychological care under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist and by:
Supporting the clinical psychologist and MDT in psychological assessment, care provision, planning and delivery of evidence-based interventions;
Supporting the MDT in delivering, managing and evaluating other psychological interventions, such as groups as required;
Assisting the MDT with the collection and utilisation of routine outcome data;
Undertaking supervised work with service users and their families on a one-to-one basis delivering psychosocial interventions;
Assisting in administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, and development of research projects, teaching and project work as required.
