A construction company is seeking a talented and ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their team in the Romsey area. The team have been providing a range of important and valuable services to their clients for years, encompassing facets of residential developments, large- or small-scale construction projects, either in a design and build or turnkey capacity, and also provide project management and pr-construction services as well. They pride themselves on being able to adapt and meet the needs of their clients, whatever they may be and also put their customers’ needs first. Now that they are in a large growth stage in their business, this company are setting up new teams and expanding on their offerings, thus they are seeking talented professionals to pioneer these new expansion plans.
Your Roles and Responsibilities:
- Supporting the Commercial Director throughout the estimating process, including sending tender project packages for pricing and tracking the responses received, ensuring the project documentation is updated.
- Providing assistance to the Construction Director and various Site Manager with the take-offs of materials, to verify quantities with requisitions, creating purchase orders, ensuring that accurate records for invoicing and payments are kept.
- Identifying potential suppliers, handling the negotiations for pricing and the contract terms.
- Placing orders with onboarded suppliers, making sure to allow for the lead time and putting tracking in place for shipments, communicating with managers on the expected delivery for each project.
- Scheduling meetings with both internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers, clients, and subcontractors, preparing agendas, contact information and other documentation as needed.
- Supporting other ah-hoc office administration, including taking phone calls and deliveries and anything else that is required.
The ideal candidate for this role will have some previous experience within a relevant role, and have worked in the construction industry, possessing a good understanding of the sector and administrative or office experience within this industry. Applicants should have fantastic time management skills, be organised and be able to handle multiple projects at any given time. Strong analytical skills will be essential to this role, alongside exquisite communication abilities in both a written and verbal form. Applicants should have reasonable proficiency with Microsoft Office and have the aptitude to learn further software as required.
