What it's like to work here

You'll be working at a variety of places across the North York Moors and Yorkshire Coast including Roseberry Topping, Bransdale, Bridestones and Ravenscar. You'll be working out of Ormesby Hall ewhere you'll be part of the wider Ranger team includes 3 Rangers and you will report to the Area Ranger.

What you'll be doing

As Assistant Ranger, you’ll undertake different task in countryside management. This will include nature conservation working to make habitats better for wildlife, site inspections, routine practical maintenance, monitoring of wildlife habitats, supporting volunteers, and helping to deliver activities that strengthen people’s connections with the outdoors.

As no two days are the same, the nature of the role means a flexible approach is crucial to ensure the right level of support is given across the site. So, whether you’re maintaining our green spaces or talking to people, you’ll inspire others to love our beautiful places as much as you do.

You'll start your day at our base at Ormesby Hall in Middlesbrough before heading out to one of our fantastic places in the North York Moors and Yorkshire Coast. You could be assisting with fixing footpaths at Roseberry Topping, dry stone walling on one of our tenanted farms in Bransdale, clearing scrub from SSSI moorland at Bridestones, or creating species-rich hay meadows on the Yorkshire Coast.

Initially temporary until the end of 2024, there's likely to be opportunities for progression for the right candidate.
