Assistant Transport Manager
Andover
Monday to Friday - days-based role

This role will be responsible for the day to day management of an existing transport operation, working closely with the Transport Manager to:
- Ensure the service, image and performance of the transport operation is in line with business expectations
- Maximise the profitability of the operation by controlling costs and managing operational requirements whilst ensuring the timely submission of financial data
- Ensuring the operation is fully compliant with all legislative, company and customer requirements
- Managing the day to day transport operation, altering the daily plan in line with changing demands
- Ensuring all customer KPIs and operational deadlines are met and exceeded where possible
- Manage accident and incident reporting and investigation
- Manage and supply Driver CP training
- Recruit, train, motivate and mentor the transport team
About You:
This is a fast-moving distribution operation that can be challenging! You will have previous experience of managing a busy transport or distribution operation and will have supervised or managed people previously - people management and development should be something you enjoy. You may already have gained your CPC for Transport Managers but, if not, the company will support you in obtaining this.
You’ll be a natural problem-solver and creative thinker, able to work with the existing team to deliver excellent results across the distribution operation. You will also need:
- Strong general IT knowledge and capabilities (MS Excel, Word etc). Ideally previous experience of TMS systems.
- Excellent team working abilities, able to instill confidence and drive in others
- Good knowledge of Health & Safety in transport operations
- Great multi-tasking abilities
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills
- The ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with management, drivers and suppliers
- Flexibility - the ability to adapt and cope with the unexpected
