Assistant Underwriter A&H – Reinsurance

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Reinsurance Assistant Underwriter to join our Accident & Health team at QBE Re in London. This is an exciting opportunity to support the growth of this diverse portfolio which includes Treaty, Direct & Facultative, Sports and International Medical Expenses. We are looking for an insurance professional who is looking to either transfer into, or further their career in reinsurance.

Your new role:  

• Perform underwriting activities in accordance with all legal and regulatory requirements to ensure obligations are met
• Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders including customers, brokers, business partners and colleagues
• Underwrite reinsurance risks in accordance with the business plan and delegated underwriting authority to meet business objectives, referring as required, including:
  • -negotiating rates, terms and conditions for existing and new business
  • -ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations and guidelines
  • -contributing to the business plan and objectives
• Support the review and analysis of the portfolio to identify progress towards business objectives
• Participate in meetings, as required, to support the development of strategy, share knowledge and best practice
• Support the RDS and Aggregate exposure monitoring processes

About you:

• Previous underwriting experience not a prerequisite and, if prior experience, we are open-minded on the product line and territory experience
• Strong numeracy and data analysis skills with the ability to identify, manipulate and analysis existing data
• Good technical knowledge across Microsoft office, specifically Excel with a high level of comfort working with large data-sets, pivot tables and v-look-ups
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport and manage external stakeholder relationships
• Flexible approach and ability to recognise and adapt to changing business requirements
