Associate Improvement Engineer - 12 month Fixed Term Contract/Secondment

Location: Macclesfield, UK

Competitive salary and benefits

Opening date: 24/05/2024

Closing date: 09/06/2024

Do you want to progress your career in Engineering? Are you excited at the prospect of mixing theory with hands-on practical experimental work? Are you curious about science and technology and using innovation to help get oncology medicines to more patients? If so, this could be the ideal development role for you.

We are now recruiting for an Associate Improvement Engineer to work in a project team working across several areas covering polymer manufacture, clean / sterile manufacture and syringe filling and assembly.

What you'll do:

Joining an established role within the project team, the successful candidate will bring with them technical experience in engineering and design that has a real benefit to the team and the projects that they deliver.

As an Associate Improvement Engineer you will develop the skills required to support delivery of bigger innovation projects within the department whilst also giving you the opportunity to manage your own smaller initiatives.

This role will require a good grasp of engineering fundamental principles, allowing the candidate to apply their knowledge to evaluate the feasibility of solutions (using design, prototyping and experimentation). The candidate will then be involved in taking the solution through industrialisation and ultimately into final qualification and validation.

This is a proven route to becoming an Improvement Engineer. The successful candidate will bring with them technical expertise and a passion for innovation that has an immediate benefit to the team.

Essential Requirements:

  • Relevant degree-level technical/engineering qualification (or appropriate experience)
  • Proficient in 2D/3D CAD (preferably Fusion 360 or Solidworks) and rapid prototyping using 3D printing technologies such as FDM
  • Technical report writing & generation
  • Technical support in a project delivery environment including understanding of structured problem solving tools (such as six sigma)
  • Foundational level data analysis including descriptive statistics
  • Ability to pick up and apply new technology to make process or procedure improvements

Desirable Requirements:

  • Experience coding in python or SQL
  • Experience within a sterile pharmaceutical manufacturing environment
  • Experience writing equipment qualification and validation documentation
  • Experience executing equipment qualification and validation

Please note:

The role is offered initially as a 12-month Fixed Term Contract/Secondment, with the potential of becoming permanent for the right candidate.
