Job description

Following several years of robust growth, we are pleased to be able to offer several new positions in Public Health, one of which is the position of Associate Professor. The School of Human Sciences is located in the fantastic newly refurbished Dreadnought building on the World Heritage site at the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich.  You will be joining a School and Faculty that is building a strong interdisciplinary and cross-professional approach to solving the grand challenges facing society. We are looking for colleagues who will have a commitment to maintaining and building the University’s excellence in teaching and learning, and who are doing research that has the potential for significant long-term academic and societal impact. We welcome applications from individuals with an interest in any area of Public Health. This reflects our already strong coverage of core curriculum areas and clear research interest groups.  As a Faculty we also welcome candidates whose research work will resonate with one or more new interdisciplinary Faculty Research Centres within the Institute for Lifecourse Development: Centre for Chronic Disease and Ageing Centre for Inequalities  Centre for Mental Health  Centre for Professional Workforce Development Centre for Thinking and Learning Centre for Vulnerable Children and Families The School has an active and growing research base. We anticipate a strong performance in REF2021 particularly with regard to ‘research environment’. The University is currently rated TEF silver, reflecting our excellent teaching and learning, and we have realistic aspirations to achieve a TEF rating of ‘gold’ in any forthcoming assessment exercise.  We are looking to recruit an individual with a strong track record of scholarly outputs and professional activities who, at the same time, is able to demonstrate commitment to teaching excellence and innovation as well as appropriate experience of teaching in the HE sector for this level. Candidates would be expected to have a PhD in Public Health or related field.
