The Team
BlackRock’s Global Fixed Income platform manages over $2.6 trillion in Fixed Income assets across index, ETF, fundamental and systematic strategies. The platform offers Fixed Income investors one of the industry's broadest arrays of index and alpha seeking investment strategies, providing access to our skilled portfolio management teams, offering deep market expertise, and industry leading risk management systems. As part of this platform, BlackRock manages $800 bn of Fixed Income exchange traded funds (ETFs) globally, including almost $200 bn within EMEA. This is a significant growth area for the firm.
iShares EMEA Fixed Income Product Strategy team is responsible for driving Fixed Income ETF client adoption through targeted client initiatives, in partnership with distribution channels. The team is responsible for representing the firm’s index Fixed Income investment process in front of clients and internal stakeholders, as well as driving commercialisation through key narratives, thought leadership and data driven insights. The team interfaces with the portfolio management teams, senior business leads across the organisation, relationship managers and directly with meeting clients.
The Role
You will focus on driving client adoption and commercialising new and existing product ranges to support the growth of the iShares Fixed Income ETF business. They will be expected to handle a wide array of analytical tasks, engage with clients, working closely with portfolio managers, other product strategists, distribution, and marketing teams.
Please note that we have scope to hire an Associate or Vice President level candidate for this role.
Key Responsibilities
Generate client insights on the back of data driven analysis around managing Fixed Income index portfolios, navigating trading dynamics, as well as showcasing how Fixed Income ETFs perform during different macro environments and relative to other financial instruments
Thoroughly understanding the Portfolio Management team’s investment processes and work alongside the PMs on commonly identified projects
Create high quality client materials and product positioning to enable sales teams across both the wealth and institutional channels
Thought leadership: contribute to the production of thought pieces in growth areas
Monitor competitive universe: keep track of products and performance of other asset managers and produce competitor insights
Product Development: work with iShares product and Fixed Income partner teams to support new product launches as well as contribute to new product ideas and / or enhancements to existing fund ranges
Drive scale through efficiencies and automation within the team, particularly around using processing and analysing data
Knowledge/Experience Required
Fixed income experience in a buy side or sell side role, or at an index provider, including from an index research background
Knowledge of Fixed Income data e.g. asset classes, analytics and classifications including sustainable which would be a plus
Highly numerate, with excellent analytical capabilities, preferably working with bond and index level analytics
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills to articulate technical concepts, ideas, and processes in a simple and transparent way
Ability to develop trusting relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, both internally and externally
Strong team player, collaborative and cooperative approach to tasks
Disciplined organisation and project management skills
Ambitious work ethic and professional disposition
Skills/Qualifications Required
Experience maintaining, extending and designing automation and analytics solutions in VBA, Python and/or Office JavaScript around MS solutions with a focus on Excel and PowerPoint.
Ideally, track record of building solutions in a professional services environment, including use of common standards, documentation, in a Continuous Integration and Delivery setup
Fluency in English and, preferably, another major European language; German-speaker would be an advantage.
Interest in using quantitative techniques (such as regression analysis or risk-based measures) to develop, maintain, and enhance research insights for clients
Interest in using artificial intelligence tools and techniques in day-to-day workflows, productivity enhancements, as well as novel applications
CFA qualification, CFA candidacy, IMC qualification, an advantage
